Honda
India Foundation (HIF), the CSR arm for all Honda group of companies in India
announced the launch of its Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program at Honda
Samajik Vikas Kendra, Naurangpur, along with the flag off of ‘Sadak Suraksha
Express’, road safety awareness initiatives aimed at educating communities on
safe driving practices and pedestrian behaviour. Both the initiatives aim to
strengthen Honda’s vision of Zero Traffic Fatalities and foster a culture of
responsible mobility and a positive mindset towards road safety.
The
event was attended by Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, Katsuyuki
Ozawa, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, Rajeev Taneja, Operating Officer, Honda
India Foundation and Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer, Corporate Affairs,
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
The
Honda Road Safety Ambassadors Program has been launched to involve youth as
active participants in promoting safer driving and riding habits. It supports
Honda’s global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving
its motorcycles and automobiles by 2050 with a target of reducing fatalities by
50% by 2030. Under this initiative, each batch of participants will undergo a
three-month training, including 15 days of classroom sessions and 75 days of
community activities related to educating the masses on road safety led by
these ambassadors. The participants will share their learnings with families,
friends and local communities, helping build awareness of traffic rules and
responsible behaviour on roads.
HIF
also introduced ‘Sadak Suraksha Express,’ a mobile road safety awareness
initiative that will travel across rural areas to spread key messages on
traffic safety and pedestrian awareness. The van features visual
demonstrations, local language content, street plays and storytelling sessions
to make safety education more engaging and accessible for all. The activity
aims to reach people across various age groups including farmers, school
children, teachers, women and community leaders encouraging a culture of
caution and mindfulness on the roads. It will also help strengthen rural
connect through interactive sessions and community-based learning.
Vinay
Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, said, “Creating awareness at
community level is central to building safer roads. The Honda Road Safety
Ambassadors Program and Sadak Suraksha Express are designed to engage youth and
local communities by providing them the tools and knowledge to promote
responsible mobility. By combining structured learning with hands-on
community-focussed activities, these initiatives aim to create a lasting
impact. We believe that informed, aware communities can play a key role in
reducing accidents and fostering a culture of safety on our roads. This is a
tangible way for Honda India Foundation to contribute to shaping safer and more
conscious mobility for everyone.”
